Leaky crotch

Postby youngoilguy » Sat Oct 12, 2013 7:10 am

My cabelas ultimate hunting waders are starting to leak at the crotch. The are 13 years old so I'm not complaining, but the rest of the waders are top top. I inspected the seams and they look okay Has anybody ever successfully repaired a seam? Any advice other than buy a new pair?

At 13 years old, they arent worth putting money into. I would just go ahead and buy some new ones.

 I am very impressed that you goy 13 years out of yours. My first couple of pairs I would get at least 10 years a piece out of, then neoprene came along and that average went by the wayside. neoprene waders have lasted me 5, 4, 2, 1,1 and now I am on year 3 with the latest pair. cabelas said they put me on a watch list after I returned the last ones. Oh, they do become nice hip boots if you cut them off at the crotch.

I just slobbed a bunch of aquaseal on my wader seams yesterday. I'll let you know how it works tomorrow.

Do this.

If it doesn't work, buy a new set of waders.

I quit being a cheapskate and got a set of supermags. Thanks for the hip boot idea. I think I may end up doing that.

If Aquaseal won't repair them, it's time to buy a new pair. I've used Aquaseal to fix several waders.

I have yet to have a pair of waders last just one season. Let alone 13.

Took a few hunts but I finally got in deep enough to check my seal job. Aquaseal works. Slob it on the seam and smooth it out with a Popsicle stick. Dry as a bone...minus the crotch sweat.

go to walgreens and buy some flexseel. Hang them upside down and spray the whole area pretty good. It should seal up the hole or the seam. Might as well fix em then buy a new pair.
