Home made ice eater done

Got the project done. Even with the Mallard view stand only got 200 into it. Time to put it to work!

Nice job!
Are you going to have to cut a hole in the ice to get it in the water now??

Can you please elaborate on how you rigged this up. We have been discussing how to make one ourselves.

Hate to say it. Used ice eaters are found on the Internet for less than $200. The ones selling here are in the specific market of need, which explains the overpriced used price. Plenty available for $100-$150 used up to 1HP. Plenty available at 3/4HP. I know. I already bought one used.

I've been looking and only have seen beat up ones on ebay. The stand is the biggest buy at 160 but the easiest way to go for mounting. Used 12 in sewer pipe. Made a cross type frame for the trolling motor to sit on out of 1 in square tubing (because it's what I had laying around). Attached the motor to it with 4 inch u bolts. Mounted it into the frame by slicing slots for the tubing to slide down and secured the tail with double butted thread rod. Wired it up with an old extension cord. Used it today and works great!
