Sometimes the front corners of a vent rib can be pretty sharp and rip hell out of the inside of gun cases. I've had a couple of guns that did this in the past.

I have had my drake cases for three years now and haven't seen this.
So I was wondering why it happened to apex.
As I was putting my gun away the other day I realized how tight the drake case is , and I like that,
But because of that I always squeeze in on the top and bottom to make the opening bigger so the barrel doesn't rub hard all the way down
I had not even noticed I was doing that , but having a mechanical back ground I was always taught if something doesn't go smooth and easy don't force it so I automatically started doing this.
There is a Velcro strip that would allow you to adjust the interior clearance for your gun.
Sense I like my guns not to slide around in the case I never used it.
Also apex they make a patch tape for textiles like moms iron on to the knees of their kids jeans I would patch the inside of my case with that and then insert the gun more carefully.

I bought a new Avery floating gun case this year and the third time I used it, the carry strap came unstitched and dropped the bag and gun in the mud. Hope this was not typical for the case.

I have a avery floating gun case and have used it three seasons, I hunt hard and abuse my stuff and its about shot. I've looked at the drake cases and I really like the quality and how the Velcro goes all the way down the case, it makes it more convenient to store your gun in your case.

Second on Boyt cases for soft cases. But they are a little too nice to throw in the mud and don't float, so we use the Avery and Cabelas floaters. They don't last forever though, but reasonably priced......

Actually they now make floating cases that come in camo. I'm willing to pay for quality though.

Nice, I'll have to look for the Boyt floater. I still use a Boyt soft case I got as a teen for my first 6mm, that was about 35 years ago. Zipper still works, no tears inside, that's the kind of stuff I like!

I just got the Avery case. Haven't had a chance to use it in the field yet.

Appears to do the trick though.

got this case for 25 bucks at bass pro shop 2 days ago. Blows away all other cases I've seen/ held
Mine also came with a padded shoulder pad on the sling. The two part liner setup is awesome.

Cabelas deluxe floating case. Great quality case. Cheaper then most brands too. I think I paid around $25 or $30 on sale.

I agree with the fact that redhead is cheap, but this case is amazing. Way more durable than the Allen or flambeau cases for less money. Cabelas was sold out and said would be for 10 weeks and is known to make their cases on the shorter side,

I got a flambou case and it has a flag slot and I love it. Whatever you do GET A FLOATING CASE. I have seen guns saved because of it!

Take a look at the new Banded site on internet. I have the new Fowl Life floating case and it looks very nice. They have quite a few choices.
