Can't find a Blind Bag big enough. Help

Postby 10gaOkie » Sun Mar 30, 2014 9:01 am

Any suggestions? Trying to replace my worn out old bag which was waterproof with a main compartment that is 26"and a zip pocket on all four sides. It is all vinyl lined for waterproofing. It is Redhead brand but no longer made.

No suggestions? I guess I will settle for the Boyt WF250 bag from Amazon. Best I could come up with.

What all do you carry in your blind bag? A box of ammo don't take up that much room.

Cabelas Northern Flight Ultimate Blind Bag. Comes in 3 sizes and is a quality bag. I bought the magnum which is large enough to hold extra clothes and everything else I need. I was going to post the link but all I can find is the Walk In blind Bag. Here's the link for that one: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas- ... l+Products

I think they may be out of the one I have since it won't come up in the search

The measurements of the Boyt bag are 23x11x13 for the main compartment. I have not found anothe bag that has a water proof liner or is called a floating bag of this size. Its kind of tough when you are 250 miles from the closest Cabelas to look at bags.

I usually hunt out of boats, so walking isn't a concern. I bought a large dry box, the best way to transport your gear. Plus it doubles as a seat.

You may be far from a Cabelas to look at bags. But how far are you from the nearest Amazon store to look at Boyt bags?

My biggest bag is the Avery Pit Bag but it's only 20x11x11. I say only, LOL. It's a big bag. Waterproof and floats. Like it real well but usually carry a smaller one day to day.

Chris,
I looked a lot online to try and find exactly what'd work for me. Tough to find objective reviews and be able to cut through the marketing etc. Cabelas and Rodgers had the best selection of bags. That said, there's a lot to be said for a MTM Case Guard dry box or sportsman's box or seven gallon bucket with a lid.

If the drake xl floating blind bag is to small you take too much stuff.

Thats just your opinion. Need thoughts on finding a bag, not how to hunt.

I have an old Cabelas Magnum one but it's too bulky. I use it more a duffle bag for upland hutning.

I just ordered a Drake XL with the hard bottom (also has a little light that comes on when you open it) from Macks. I checked these out at Cabelas and they looked really well amde and thought out.

Sorry if I came across that way. But what all do you take? I think I take a lot but I mean I have everything under the moon.

I tend to prefer the conventional style bags, ones with main compartment and pockets on each and sides with shoulder strap. If I could find a Drake bag big enough, I would jump on it most likely. So far, the Boyt bag seems to be the winner so far at 23 inch main compartment. I wish I could run across someone that has the XL Boyt bag.

Yep I always did too - haha. It does have a main compartment (Dimensions: 15" D x 23" W x 23.5" H / 8000 cu.in.) , pockets, etc, even a 2 box shell holder outside bag, a lot easier to organize and keep everything dry .. I usually use one strap thrown over one shoulder, until I get to the blind, where I hook it on a hanging nail for convenience and so everyone can get their crap out of my bag. Well good luck.

Cabelas Northern Flight Ultimate Magnum is the way to go. I have used it for the last two seasons. I take some flack for it, but once I whip out something someone needs they shut up quick. I believe Cabelas will have them again this season, but have taken them off the website (they do this practice all the time with products). I have seen them in two local Cabelas stores. I only use it while in a boat or a pit since it is so large. But, it fits everything I need and that is a wide range of gear.
