Rubberized paint options?

Postby Brent » Fri Jul 02, 2004 2:55 pm

I'm interested in painting the inside of my canoe with that rubberized sound-deadening paint that Cabella's offers- but the price is pretty steep.

Are there other products like this on the market that cost less?

Thanks!

Wal mart sells the same product that Cabelas sells. (dupli-color) in gallon cans for $38.00. Then go to harborfreight.com they sell an undercoating gun for $7.00 So for under $50 you can get what Cabelas sells for $90. I just did the botom of my boat. Worked killer! I reccommend the spraygun over the poller. Note Lots of laquer thinner needed for clean up. (at least a gal) Thin product with acetone not laquer thinner. let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the heads up- this is good advice.

Family vacation starts in the morning, then I'll give this a try.

Do you think one gallon will cover the inside of an 18 foot canoe?

It should. but it depends how thick. It says it will do 80-100sq ft. My boat is 15ft with a 65" beam and 1 gal did the trick.
