Looking for an over an under

Postby 870 » Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:59 pm

My son is looking for an o/u in the $300-400 range, is it possible to get a good one in that price range?

If so what make and model? Thanks

Tell him to try to locate Bakail shotguns. Turkish made, but very reliable. Tristar made my gun, Razzini, around 500, BUT shoots 3.5 inch. Spartan (the Bakail sold under a new name). Traditions shotguns, sometimes carried by Walmart. If I think about any more, I'll let ya know

I'm an O/U fan too.

I have heard good things about Mossberg o/u's also though they do not have automatic ejectors and you have to remove the empty shells from the chamber they are probably pretty reliable. Before you buy a inexpensive over and under look at two things. The smoothness of the action latch...and inspect the welding on the barrels to insure that there are no defects. The problem with inexpensive S x S and o/u shotguns is sometimes the barrels are not soldered in straight and can different points of impact.

I bought the spartan O/U 12 gauge for $379.
it needed a little oiling, but other than that I love it!
it has auto/selective eject on the spent shells.

I just got a Mossburg Silver Reserve for Christmas. 3" chamber; 5 choke tubes seems to shoot pretty well and they can be bought about anywhere for less than $500.00

Mossberg has them manufactured by Kahn Firearms, a Turkish company and from what I have read a fairly old and reputable company.

I have a stoger condor too and it is a great gun, the only problem is that the fireing pin won't hit the cheap shells hard enough.
Great gun for hunting and skeet shooting.
