Browning is notorious for creating new lines of shotguns. The silver is a re-designed version of the gold. The browning gold series is an excellent firearm. I bought the fiance' the women's model sporting clays gun and its an excellent firearm. Browning uses thier own gas system and to date its been highly reliable. Browning firearms have a reputation as being some of the best. If I were in the market for a new shotgun the Browning gold hunter would be my choice. The silver has a slightly different shaped reciever.

Talk to a few older people and some younger I know of mainly my hunting partner and you can never replace an A-5. But spend your money wisely and always shoot what fits.....does not matter if its a mossberg 500 or a perazzi. Always be informed once you find that shotgun you like it will get scratch dinged and dented. Good thing shotguns hold up better than auto's other wise I would be shooting something I do not like :salude:

Citori is right..you can never replace an A5. However it was dropped from their line almost two decades ago. The model you are looking at is right nice tho.

gold hunter

Postby Humpbackshooter » Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:25 pm

Just a note: my gold hunter jams on me after a several rounds. will not jack the shell or not all the way. There was several gold hunters in my duck club that were paid for and traded because of this. 2 3/4, 3" 3 1/2 is suppose to be shot through this gun. I shot 3 1/2s and hung up. when back to ole trustable (A-5 Mag. 3") I just wish that Browning would start making the A-5 again, only in 10ga. Heck, I be happy with a 3 1/2 12ga. There is only one gun for me. A-5

Guys don't make me dream of a new Light Twelve, and a 3.5" mag A-5, I might wet my bed.
Have you ever woke up one day and said. Damn when does the season start.

Best you are gonna do on that A5 is a 3" Magnum. Open your checkbook for a nice one, especially a Belgium gun.
