Problems With Benelli SBE2???

Postby Swamp Puppy » Sun Apr 16, 2006 7:27 pm

Ok, a couple of things before i get to the "meat" of my post.

1) i own a Nova and love it.
2) i know that there is a lot of "fanboy'ism" regarding shotguns...i'm not looking for sensless posts about "benelli is the best!" "benelli sucks!! buys american" or anything like that.

ok...now to the question.

a good buddy and hunting partner bought an SBE2 last year and has had a lot of problems with misfeeding rounds. apparently, others have experienced this problem as well.

is it a problem with the gun? does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of this? either you or your hunting partner have this problem?

personally, i feel it is probably just a function of the use of an autoloader in the environment we hunt in. which, shall we say, is not a gun friendly one....that and a combination of improper cleaning.

anyone have some input here?

BENELLI SUCKS  Just kidding I couldnt help myself.

If its just a cycling problem. Maybe its just how the gun is being held. A friend of mine had one doing the same thing. Turns out he just wasnt shouldering it good cause with the inertia deal it has to be solid form what I understand.
If they're dumb enough to be lured in by plastic you're really just doing them a favor.

Know your target before you pull the trigger.

Kent's 3" #2's @ 1550fps during the ducks season...along with the occasional box of Federal 3.5" #3's also at high velocity.

he has also had problems with regular ol' 2 3/4" target loads shooting clays.

I've been using both of those loads with no trouble, so I wouldn't blame the shells. Has he thought about installing sure-cycle??

I wouldn't say the environment is the problem. Any gun should be able to hold up in any moderatly sever environment. Every gun will have problems in severe conditions.

If the gun isn't cleaned propery, then I think you have found your problem.

Have him take it to a gunsmith and look it over. It's not entirely possible to diagnos a problem like this in a chat forum.

Check you PM's for the link.Gooseboy, I haven't heard of many Brownings using the sure-cycle system, I think it's the SBE's and Berretta's that keep him busy :hammering:

thanks for the PM Plainsman...

it could very well be the way he is shouldering the gun. I know most people love theirs and only a few seem to have the problem. The people who do seem to have the problem claim it is "unfixable" regardless of how many times it get's sent back or which reputable gunsmith looks at it.

It is just human nature to blame the product instead of "user error". especially when the product has gotten rave reviews from every sports writer out there and costs an arm and a leg to buy. i mean heck, it should shoot every time..hit every time..cook breakfast..clean your house..and drive you home from the bar when you've had too much to drink...shouldn't it?
