Im going down to my local gunshop to order a SX3 now im partial to a long barrel but is there a reason to get a shorter barrel or stick with the 28, what do you guys think?

26-28 bout the same thing. Great choice on an all around shotgun.

Some claim the 26 is easier to swing. Personally I don't see a difference, especially with this gun. I went with the 28 and couldnt be happier. :sniper:

I like the 28" for the 12 gauge. I would look at the kind of hunting your doing, if your hunting from a boat most of the time I'd go with the 26".

My four duck guns are evenly divided: two 26" and two 28". I've never been hunting with any of them and wished I had a gun with a shorter/longer barrel.
Bottom line: 30" might be a tad long for a hunting gun, but 28 is fine and 26 is just as fine.

BP has them for 899 around here. Best price I've found. With reward points I just picked up the 26'' Hunter for 700 bucks and love it.

Length dictates barrel mass.

How do you measure the barrel length?

Tape measure or yardstick. Either will work.

The barrel length is measured from the rear end of the chamber where the bolt face seats to the muzzle, excluding any extended choke tube length.

Hope this helps,
