Opinions on a stock

Postby rcase1234 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:08 pm

So I just got a shotgun with a real high gloss shotgun stock that is awesome! Now, I plan on duck hunting with this soon, would you put a synthetics stock and forearm on it? I will not be hunting from a boat only from the land. Could any elements I am exposed to while duck hunting hurt the stock? I understand the possibility of scratches but that's possible with anything.

Suppose much depends on how you'll hunt on land. Our steel pits eat gun finishes.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

i suggest you put a thin coat of lacquer on the stock also some on the inside of the stock, for the grips i use mineral oil. this is just a precaution measure, makes it look nicer as well.I've seen the (new) wood 870 swell with small amount of moister also seen a swollen up pa-08 that was fished out of the river the stock was messed up, thats the reason to coat the inside of the stock. if its a benelli it might have a fibreglass resin on the inside of the stock the ultra light has this.

my 2 cents
if you can read this your almost as smart as a dolphin.

Just found a stock and forearm combo for $80 roughly for my gun. For that money, its worth it to save my nice wood stock. Thanks for those who replied
