Dedicated Lefty gas gun

Postby Jesse Jaymes » Sat Jun 15, 2013 6:56 am

Are there any options I am missing on Left Hand gas guns?? Benelli either SBE or M2? Possibly a junker Escort?

I am getting prepped for my second major season upcoming and going to hit it very hard. I invested in a Beretta 3901 American Waterfowler last year. Ordered it sight unseen. I am just overall put off by the gun. I don't like it for many reasons.

I realize that many can and do shoot right handed guns from the "wrong" side, we did quite a bit of pass shooting last season. Hard overhead shots dumped a LOT of hot powder in my right eye. Sure I could wear glasses.....rather just dump the Beretta and move on.

What options do I have??

You might check out the CTI II. It really is a nice gun and can be had at a good price. The CTI in its original form was a piece of crap, the CTI II isn't. Its bottom ejection and the safety can be reversed.

Remington makes the ONLY dedicated lefty gas operated automatic shotgun that is on the market, to my knowledge (1187). Benellis are "inertia" or "short recoil" actuated shotguns. Give a left-handed 1187 from the mid '90's a try.
Smell that? Smells like sumthin died in here.

You got me on the specifics.....

Wanting an dedicated lefty auto loader. Any current method of cycling the action would work, as long as the ejection port is on the left side of the firearm

I got a chance to try out a friends left handed SBE 2 last year. I ran box through it. It was nice having the shells eject on the left side but I have never had any issues with my 1187 ejecting on the right. I wear sunglasses hunting so gas powder blow back has never been an issue. My only turn off is the mag cut off/bolt release button is still on the right side. I don't personally think the extra 200-250 is worth it. The M2 and SX3 have been top on my next gun list for the past year or two I'm mostly leaning towards the SX3. 6 months ago I held the new A5 and it really felt good. I was pleasantly surprised to find the mag/bolt release button is in front the the trigger guard. It just might me the selling point for me to get the A5
