Cerakoted shotguns?

Postby ssramage » Thu Jul 18, 2013 8:54 am

Trying to get some ideas for my SBE2. The factory Max-4 is terrible so I'm thinking of having it redipped/cerakoted. I'm thinking of doing the receiver and barrel cerakoted, while dipping the stocks in original bottomland. Has anyone had something similar done with the cerakote and camo? Post pics if you have.

Don't do it!!!! I want mine to be the one and only lol. Just kidding man. Mine is at the shop getting that exact treatment. It should be done tomorrow or the first of next week. When I get it I'll post some pics so you can get a look at what it looks like. mine will be cerakoted metals and bottomland on the stock and forearm. The guy even told me if I had rather have the whole thing in Bottomland once I see it, he will redo the metals in Bottomland for no extra charge. Hard to beat great customer service

I did the same thing last year although it was not bottom land camo, I was not happy at all with the ceracoat, I had an approved ceracoat dealer do the work and in a year saw lots of wear on the high spots, ceracoat is tough but it is just paint, I would save the money and just have it dipped on the stock and forearm and not coated. just my two cents

I would have taken it back. Cerakote is 100 to 1 tougher than hydro dipped. Sounds like the guy did a shoddy job on your gun IMO. I've owned cerakoted guns and dipped guns and cerakote is very tough. It sounds a whole lot like they duracoated your gun instead of cerakoting it

I had my Mag 10 done last year and so far so good!! Seems to be tough stuff. Not the coolest pattern ever but oh well.

yes maybe, but I paid for cerakote, anyway it did not hold up well, maybe they did a no heat cure although I ask for the high temp version

Yeah but they added some darkener in it so it would match the Bottomland better

Your gun looks really good! does cerakote have a texture or is it smooth?

Thanks a lot man. It has a slight texture. Kinda reminds you of very fine grit sandpaper in a way
