Other than the price and 3 1/2" capability what is the difference between these two guns?

You better believe it does. If you shot a few 3 1/2" shells in two 31/2" chambered guns one right after the other with one having the kick off you would definitely notice the difference.

So the kick off is the only main difference?

No, the kick off is not the only difference. The Barrel is the new steelium alloy with newly designed chokes, which in my opinion pattern very well. I did not see the need to buy after market chokes. The gas system is newly designed and is truly self cleaning. The action is newly redesigned and is the fastest action on the market, bar none. The Blink operating system is amazing. Check You Tube. You will find videos of the blink system operating. The gun can cycle 4 shells before the first shell hits the ground. So, when you ask what is the difference between the A300 and A400 the answer is everything. The A400 is a completely new design. I find mine very reliable.
