Alright gents trying to decide on a pump. The 870 has it pros, 1 being the price and 2 they have a good track record of the gun but I've also read about the cons, the bps on the other hand has it's own pros but I haven't really heard any cons about it. I need some input on both so I can make a good decision and what you would purchase.

Go hold/shoot both...and a few others if possible. You'll know the right gun when it hits your hands/shoulder!

The only problems that I've heard of people having with the bps is that its tougher to put back together after being stripped down. For as often as I do that, it doesn't bother me. The first time I did it I had a little trouble getting the trigger group back in but once you figure it out once, the next time is no problem. For some reason the BPS feels like a much bigger gun, and I'm not sure why. The machining, parts fit, and overall smoothness of the BPS is better than a new 870 express or Wingmaster. In that aspect I think you'd have to get an old Wingmaster to match it.
So I guess I'm saying that I prefer the feel of my 870 and I prefer the quality of my bps.

+1, The BPS will also pattern with the best of them if not better, The Wingmaster model is the only competition Remington has to the BPS but it's still not near the quality or fit & finish. If you can find an old (Pre 1980's) Magnum Wingmaster you will have a "Good" 870!
