It was 2 years ago, when I decided not to clean my gun until it jams on me. Went out west for some roosters and had little luck. As I was walking along the grass I jumped 2 roosters and as I pull up my trigger locks up and watch the only two roosters of the day fly off to the sun.

Had a CZ-712 where the elevator locked down while grouse hunting. I'm still not sure what caused it or how I fixed it. Just started working again somehow. The only thing I can think of is maybe a tiny stick or something found it's way into the trigger mech and then fell out with me seeing it.

Fired at the duck and it kept flying. Had to be the gun....

Seriously, December 3, 1975 while ~130 miles from home base, fired the Browning Citori (purchased new the previous August) at the first bird of the season (a nice bull sprig) which fell DRT along with both trigger springs breaking. Fortunately, a buddy had his "old" Remington 1100 in the truck, so the day wasn't a total loss. Thank God for "sheetmetal" shotguns.

Both 3inch barrels going off at the same time. I fired from an umbalanced position to begin with and the recoil put me on my rear. It never did that before or since. Trigger guard did a number on my fingers!

Few years ago was standing on the dock in the pre dawn darkness, loading things into the boat when somehow my gun slipped off my arm and plunk, fell into about 6 feet of water! I screamed like a little girl. Got out the decoy retriever pole and after what seemed like an eternity, the hook caught the sling and I was able to bring back my SBE, covered with muck.
Guess this was more of a human problem then a gun problem!

By the way, Remington tells us that the receiver on an 1100 is machined from a block of solid steel.
Thank God for American shotguns.

Never had a gun completely fail, but have had my Gold get sluggish from lack of lube and turn into a single-shot. I now spritz it with RemOil every 3-4 hunts (clean it thoroughly about every 6-7 hunts).

Had gun problems over 40 years of duck hunting , all but once the gun will still shoot at least one shot.

But had a wad stick in the barrel on a comb duck and pheasant hunt. At that time i was a long walk back to the duck spot where a cleaning rod was in my blind bag!

This past dove season I flicked off the safety on my old 16ga and it went off. Happened two different times.

Fortunately I remove the safety in the early stages of the mount, gun pointed up about 70 degrees.

First time I figured I did something wring. Second time it went to the case.

That will make your finger sore.

Wasnt out hunting, but i had my gun fall into 3 different pieces at the trap range. I clean it after every hunt, so im careful to make sure its put together right. So that doesnt happen out on the water.

I've had 2 total failures to fire. Two different guns. Both times, I had forgotten to reload after retrieving ducks.

Muddy,

My HS graduation present (G'pa) was an 1100 Magnum as the "sheet metal" connotation was oft heard from snotty A-5 owners.

Single shot automatics. Various problems, all related to neglect and procrastination when it came to cleaning.
Why do I shoot 3.5" for geese? Because they don't make a 4" yet!

Can't blame the gun, but it was upsetting nonetheless
