Mossberg 930 or Beretta a300?

Postby emartinez11 » Wed Jan 22, 2014 6:37 pm

Was looking at a 935 but the 3.5 inch shell really doesnt entice me. Since i dove and duck hunt mostly. i can do the same damage with 3 inch shells.

a300 does 2.75 and 3 inch shells and the 930 is the same thing.

What are you guys opinions?

Both good guns. The beretta is lighter and a sleeker forearm . I have a 930 and my buddy has an a300.

ah thats good to hear. i was leaning towards the Beretta just cause of the quality. i know all guns throw steel and lead. I just want to make sure its going to be put through hell and be alright.

i held both of them, the A300 seems very light which i like.

So i got to the store, and the the beretta was sold already. Although the guy told me he had a new one in the back. He was looking at something else apparently..Cause i got there and he goes "Oh im sorry, it was a different gun box"

So it was either the Mossberg 935 or a bunch of benellis that looks like they have seen better days. not sure how they are storing them but they sure look beat up. So i bought the 935, new in box, came with a shoulder strap and 3 chokes.

Time to go whack some ducks! :sniper:

My 935 cycles the 2 3/4" shells as long as they are going 1550 fps or faster. It also shoots my reloads 100 fps faster. Ned S

I suppose your third choice is better than the fourth choice would have been......it should kill ducks if you can hit them.

Well when i looked at the benellis, they had scratches all over, looked like they had been to hell and back. inside of the action where the shell comes up, had divots or pings in it. A guy was next to me was about to buy one and he was like "i think ill go else where, these are just to beat up" So they lost out on about 1600 this guy was about to drop.

Ned, You said as long as they go 1550 or faster, what 2/34 shells are you shooting?! ive never seen any that fast.

Mossberg isn't even in the same league as berettas. Beretta makes some very high quality gas firearms.
Their sister company makes IMO the best intria driven firearms also.

The a300 is great pointer and light and its a Beretta but kinda a pain to put the bolt back in the receiver but when know how to do it right its easier but low recoil its like a hybird bewteen a al391 and the a400 so I heard my dad owns the a300 and loves and u can't beat the price for it I would go with the oiled wood version looks great and its a great duck gun

They are Lightning Steel reloads as well as Alliant 7/8 oz loads. I also shoot some Danish reloads. Ned S

I was going to get the 930, It was just black..which i hate. the other was wood, which i hate.. lol.

So my choices were the 935 or the benellis. Even the guy behind the counter was telling me they are pretty beat up.

Nelli, you asked why i didnt go else where. i went to every place they sold guns in my town.. Theres a place here called guns galore, if anyone keeps up with the military, the same place where Major Nidal Hassan got his guns and shot those people on fort hood.. Anyways they were over charging for firearms, which were used, came with no chokes, or anything. some even showed a little rust which i pointed out to the sales woman.

All in all..Im happy with my 935, gonna whack ducks in the 2014 season and go on a few goose excursions..

well the major problem is people grab them and pull back the action and **** around with it. then it sits on that rack for who knows how long. When i looked at the 935 he was trying to get me to get the display one. I told him to go to the back and get a brand new one, untouched. He did that, and im happy with my purchase.

Its a little heavier than the Beretta but its very balanced and i love the recoil. Its feels rugged and tough. cant wait to get it on the pond.
