New (used) gun.

Postby Jon Bergren » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:29 pm

I bought a used Super Mag 3 1/2" Express from a local pawn shop. Don't even think he knew it was a 3 1/2 incher. It has a laminated stock and forearm. I refinished it with Teak Oil. The chamber is very smooth, not like the Exprsses of past. I took it apart and put valve seating compound on all the moving parts and put it back together to cycle 300 times but the allowance was so small it locked shut. I took it apart and washed the parts with hot water, lightly oiled with Hoppes and put it back together. I greased the Mat steel finish to keep it from rusting. Never had a problem with rust. Probably won't shoot any 3 1/2 inchers in it but nice to have a 14,000 psi gun. Another toy to play with. Ned S the young 85 yr old.

You never, ever, get to old to enjoy a new toy

I plan on trying the GM 7/8 oz load with 4's and B's' in the Status of Steel manual at 1800 fps first. Have to order the TPS35mm shotcups first. Ned S

If ned's new toy is truly an "Express", then it is an 870.

ned, how come almost every gun you have is a crapgun? Escorts, Condors, Expresses....?
Why don't you sell all those cheapies, borrow a couple hundred from your lawyer, and buy ONE GOOD GUN????

I've got several Brownings and Berettas I'll consider letting you have for a good price, your choice. Deal?
I'll even deliver. Have some relatives in San Antonio that I'd like to see anyway.

My guns are excellent guns and work fine for me without malfunctions. I wouldn't have a Berretta and still have my Fathers A5. Ned S
