I want an old Browning Auto 5

Postby BaconBits » Sat Mar 15, 2014 8:08 pm

Is it very hard to find a Browning Auto-5 made earlier than 1950? Would like to own one. Can't find one and curious.

You will be better off with a later model that has screw in chokes if you intend to use as a waterfowl gun shooting steel shot. The one I like best is the Jap made Browning Light Twelve A5. Check out the A5s listed on gunbroker.com.

No it isn't hard at all. Armslist, pawn shops, Facebook gun sites, gunbroker, etc..... There's a ton of them still around. I have a few Belgium ones but I prefer the Jap ones to hunt with due to the interchangeable chokes. Matter of fact my go to duck gun is a Jap Mag Stalker with 28" Inv + barrel. I love that gun more than my SBEII or Maxus. Awesome guns

Watchout for Armslist way to many scammers.

Id try Gunbroker.com , gunsinternational.com , and gunsamerica.com. Ive bought guns from all three sites without any issues

Get a magnum 12.

Japanese A5 is ideal due to screw in chokes. However I have 1960 Belgian which I sent the barrel to Carlson's to install a extended choke, it works just fine.
