Not anything I'd consider buying, especially if I wasn't particularly in the market for one like that.

I have owned two Novas and there was nothing about them that I cared for. Needless to say, I dont own one anymore.

Appreciate it - glad I asked. I should put that $400 on next season's ammo.

Dave
If you continue to shop for a new gun. You might take a look at the Escort Supreme. I have bought both a 20ga and a 12ga in the past six months. I fell for that gun from the first time I saw one on a dealer's shelf. Even though I own three Benellis which are my favorite. I may have found a new favorite in the Escort. I was amaized at how affordable this gun is as well as its features and how well its put together. I have no doubt it will hold up for me over time. Academy Sports sells this semi auto for $449. So you might take a look at one and do some online research of the reviews. So far, everything about this gun seems to be first class. I personally like its wood stocks, 3" chamber, black chrome barrel which eleminates rust, and its sweet balance. It comes with case and drop shims and LOP shims. Anyway, its worth a look. You might fall for it like I did.

Thanks - I'll have to stop by Academy Sports next time I'm in Little Rock. The Seller on that Nova, dropped it to $400 and is now wanting to trade for another shotgun.

My last Nove was a Max4 camo version and if memory serves me I was at a gun show trying to get 400 out of it. I ended up doing a trade to unload it. I am glad to be done with them. I have a friend that has a nova and it doesnt fit him. Since the stock is part of the action there is no way to put a wood stock on it and cut the LOP for a good fit. He is just stuck with what he has. Gun fit is so important if you intened to live with a gun. Trying to cut a synthetic stock down is a nightmare for most. You made a very smart decsion to pass on that gun! If you will let me know your email addy, I can send you some of my pics on the Escort along with the details I have learned about its features along with shooting it. My addy is tengaokie@aol.com. I got my 12ga new at a reduced cost lower than Academy. I can fill you in on how I did that.

I didnt buy either of them. One was given to me for a debt owed to me. The other, I won.

Had one...it was OK but nothing spectacular I liked about it.

Not a steal at that price.

The 23" barrel might have a lot to do with that decision.

Sounds like a turkey model with that short barrel and choke. I didn't like the Nova because it didn't fit me and there was no way to adjust it since the stock and receiver are all one piece. Also didn't care for the "futuristic" look of them. Gun functioned great but just wasn't a fit for me... and like others have said, you could get a new one for that price.

The one thing I admit I liked was the long forearm and the way it was shaped...but mine clunked and rattled like crazy.

Chris, after reading this I bought one. I figurerd rust was a thing of the past for me, considering your testimony. Imagine my surprise when I checked the cutter blades on my riding lawn mower the next week....yep, you guessed it; RUST! Talk about disappointment. I guess the Escort's chrome doesn't eliminate rust after all. Oh, and yeah, my brother reports from the SE corner of the state that his new shovel is starting to show definite signs of rust, too!
I think I'll ask for my money back on the Escort.
