Best New Semiauto?

Postby Thoner » Wed Jun 25, 2014 10:40 am

So I think it's time for me to get a new gun for next years season. I definitely want a semi auto, but I don't wanna spend anymore than a thousand. Anybody know the best for best value? I've been looking at the beretta A300, Winchester sx3, and the stoeger m3500. Any others? I

I would also look at a Weatherby Sa08 but out of any shotgun under a grand I would choose the a300 imo. Definatly my go to shotgun.

Of those three, I'd pick the SX3 without hesitation. You should also look at a VersaMax. Some of those can be had for a grand or less.

A few years ago I bought a used SX3 from Cabela's for about $600. It was money well spent. The gun jammed a few times after I bought it, but after a very thorough cleaning I have not had any problems since. Highly recommend buying used and a SX3. Might want to consider a Maxus too. Very similar gun and can probably find that used too.

Franchi, Affinity if 3inch gun is what you want or Intensity if 3.5. Simple, very reliable, great balance and feel.

Buy the one that fits both you and your pocket book, every brand has its share of lemons

Versamax Sportsman... Not on your list but definitely worth a look considering it's well within your price range and IMO one of the best designs out there for waterfowl.

I love my A300. That being said, my decision was between a used sx3 and a new A300. The sx3's I looked at ended up not feeling right, the a300 does. I don't need 3.5" shells for any of the hunting I do.

Thanks for the input.... Think I'm gonna go with the sx3 black shadow. The local gun shops got one for $825 new. I probably don't need the 3.5 chamber but you never know. Kinda like buying a 4x4 truck haha
