What color bead do you use?

Postby Trois_beaux_canards » Sun Jul 17, 2005 5:26 pm

For those of you who use an after market bead, or your gun came with a fiber optic bead; what color do you use? Red or green? Do you just use a brass bead?

I'll start, I use red. I had to have my Remington tapped for a screw in bead. I had a package of beads, red, green, large, small, etc. They lost the whole package after installing the bead. They didn't charge me for the package...just the installation so I let it be.

Why do you use one color vs. another? As I understand it, green works better in low light.

Never notice the bead when shooting anyway.

Ive read some books and they say if your using a shotgun dont use it like a rifle, look at the target and just follow it throught with the gun and shoot it, i wish it was that easy for me, ive never adapted to this and aim my shotgun like a rifle still after many tries of just looking at the target.

I agree with the comments regarding no need for a bead on a shotgun.....I actually bought an after market 'starbrite'.....and it is a distraction at best......took it off....I actually could shoot just as good with no bead, since I never focus on it

honestly, I always thought those fiber optic beads were to large, I kept blocking out the target with em....but on the other hand some swear by em! -Chris

I don't use mine to aim either, but it's something to keep in your peripheral vision at times.
