Dangers of Hevi-shot

Postby atp » Fri Oct 15, 2004 4:30 pm

Hi All

Here is something to remember---BB hevi-shot will puncture human skin at 265 yds. Some areas restrict the size of hevi-shot,probably for this reason!

Be extra careful of your buddies when using it!!

One of the reasons I won't hunt facing any livestock, buildings, roads, or other populated area unless its at least 1/4 mile away (400yds approx). But I'm not using any loads even close to #BB hevi.

FWIW Going at HS dangers another way the Lyman reloading manual states that in time it will scratch/damage the bore some. The guy that wrote that loves and recommends using the stuff but warns it is something you should be aware of.

With the wads they use now, there is a very very very slim chance anything could happen to your barrel.
