New to forum: How do you all feel about Federal steel shotshells in my Benelli M2 or just in general, especially compared to hevi-shot??

How do I feel about Fed. steel in your M2? It really doesn't matter. You have to pattern it to see for yourself. Every individual gun will pattern the same load differently. Also, you can't even begin to compare steel shot to hevi-shot. Hevi-shot is phenomenal, at least in my experience with it. If have the money to shoot hevi-shot, then go for it. :salude:

Oh, and :welcome: to DHC!!!!!!!! :thumbsup:

:welcome: to our site!!!!!

There is no problem with shooting steel out of your M2, but you cant compare steel to hevi-shot. Thats like comparing a Chevy Colbolt to a Corvette. They just aint the same. I just shoot steel bc I dont have the money to spend on hevi-shot.

I bought some Fed 2 3/4" hull 1 1/4oz BB's at 1275 fps that were on sale at Longs.

I hate to reload BB's and the price was way too good to pass up, even at the low 1275fps .

They will kill anything out to 60 yards................

Not the best pattern for teal and small ducks, but ok on big ducks and
any goose.

Just my 2 cents..........Sage

Postby wracquet » Sun Jan 07, 2007 5:44 pm

:smile: I have been shooting both the 2 3/4 and 3 " shells this year for federal. Both of them shot real good. I shoot whatever is on sale, so i have shot all of them. Later......

By the way;

If you reload, save those Federal hulls, they are the BEST !!

its not the manufacture but what you buy.....federal is doing a mark up business on 3 1/2" 12 ga as so are other manufacture's...why cause they sell cause for some reason no one shoots a 2 3/4" gun anymore...a 2 3/4" 1 1/16oz federal, winchester, remington at 1365fps plus in a reasonable shot size for your style of hunting is plenty for ducks and geese to 50 yards...it does not matter what you shoot...shoot what you shoot well...I know some guys that cannot hit anything with a .50 cal sniper rifle but will tell you they can.....I can definetly hit a bird at 30 yards with very little....I can definetly hit a duck or goose at 40 and bring it down dead with a 2 3/4" gun.....in fact I have only shot my 10ga 3 times this year....I cannot divuldge the circumstances but the shots were well withing 35 yards and the young men with 3 1/2" full choke 12s shot first and swore they were the ones that hit them....who am I to argue....but I can bet they never shot a goose one in their life until they saw those two fall...but hmmmm how can they hit a goose when thier guns were empty???? puzzles me two they went home with geese and me????? well learned a little more...

to me, my benelli hates federals. all shots all lengths all speed. i spent over a $100 dollar on those stupid ultrashok steel to see what pattern i could throw. my benelli threw them at such off patterns i gave up on fed. for the record hevishot sucks-price wise.
