I cut open 3 differnet shot shells. The first was a winchester xpert HV steel shot #2, the second was the same but #4, the third was a remington sportsman hi-speed steel #2. All were 3" 1 1/8oz. 12 gauge.
I noticed the winchesters looked liked lead and are not round, Some even have rust on the pellets. The remington pellets look perfect, like they came from a michine very shiny and perfectly round. But there are some plastic pellets on the top of the rest of the shot. The winchesters didnt have the plastic pellets.
Now upon counting the pellets the remingtons are 20 or so pellets shy. But if you count the plastic pellets they are on the money. The winchesters are correct without the plastic ones.
My questions are:
What are the plastic pellets for?
Will the winchesters non-round pellets effect pattern that much?
