How did T and F shot get their names?

Postby Paulinkansas » Fri Oct 25, 2013 8:15 am

Here are common steel shot sizes, going from smaller to larger:

4 3 2 1 B BB BBB T F.

I understand the progression of 4 to 1, the progression of B to BBB, but I don't understand how shot sizes T and F got their name.

To me, T could be BBBB and F could be BBBBB.

Also, T could be C and F could be CC.

Just wondering.

Why do I shoot 3.5" for geese? Because they don't make a 4" yet!
