So are the heavier, slower loads, my friend.

There is no magic in super-fast, super-light loads. If there was we'd all be shooting 1/2 ounce at 2300 fps.
now that I don't shoot heavy loads anymore I have become a more accurate shooter in the field as I am at the trap range. You see the Magic in the lighter load is 1- the lack of recoil- which over a 100 day seaon we have on the west coast it is easy to develop a flinch to recoil from large heavy loads, 2-muzzle jump the more muzzle jump you have the lnonger you loose sight of your target. You can argue all you want about the heavy load I used to shoot 1 1/2 oz for a decade and now enjoy shooting light and fast 1 oz @. 1795fps and 1-1/16 oz @ 1730fps and am working on 1-1/8 oz #2s to shoot on windy days. My a-400 with kickoff literally has lit like to no recoil with these loads the first 2 I have proven out to 50 yards- the muzzle jump is very tame and don't loose sight for follow up shots. 173 #3s @1730 fps has proven to be a real nice all round load greenwings to Mallards

Id toy with the idea of shooting 1/2 oz @ 2300fps if there were enough down range energy with enough of a small shot size to make a decent pattern out to 50 yards why not. It might mike a good dove or quail load.

You may like to have a look at TSS 9,8, or 7 @1350 fps. For ranges upwards of 80 yards I would recommend the 7's

Glad somebody likes it. I got 8 boxes of HM BB's left out of a case down in the basement that my wife bought me for Christmas 3 years ago.. I tried to pattern it, didn't like it and stayed with reloads. Gave some to my buddy and he didn't care for it. I'm working up some light/super fast 2-3/4 loads for this year.

Sad thing is, I absolutely love the HeviShot 3.5" tungsten T's for killing coyotes. I bought 10 cases of it 9 or 10 yrs ago for less than $20 a box. There is no way in hell I'm giving what they want for it now.

Hevi is needed to kill birds just like a belted magnum caliber rifle is needed to kill whitetails.

I have close to a thousand rounds of hevi loads and had them for years. They are very effective. I limit them to longer passing shots. My blind bag always has a handful for such occasions.

However over 90% of my geese and 99.9% of my ducks bagged are with 1 to 1 1/8 oz steel 2 3/4" loads. Get them in the decoys and it doesn't matter.

2 man MN mallard and honker limit w/ 2 3/4"#3 steel

Why did this turn into such a huge pissing contest? Its no different than saying Chevy is better than ford, or Coors Light instead of bud light , or blonde over brunettes. The thing is you shoot what you shoot for reason, maybe your gny patterns better, maybe your more confident in whatever shot you shoot... Lets grow up a little and act like men, instead of middle schoolers on the play ground.

G,

IMO, the animosity in this thread derived it's basis of the fact there were EMI Pro Staffers jacking up their post point count (to get credit/benefits with the HQ) w/o disclosing their relationship. Their incessant shilling incurred the ire of people that know better and things soon degenerated into a urination festival. The message that was lost is to shoot whatever you want however, at least disclose your commercial bias, up front so everyone can then weigh your opinion(s) accordingly.

Because that's what we do.

CaptainWv wrote:Its no different than saying Chevy is better than ford, or Coors Light instead of bud light , or blonde over brunettes.

Exactly. And if you turn to a general truck site, a beer site, or a porn site, you'll most likely encounter the same banter. We're shotgun ballistic enthusiasts, we're passionate about it, and when we're bored, we typically argue for fun. Once you've been around the place long enough to become familiar with the personalities involved, you'll learn to simply ignore posts bY certain users, because you'll know what the post is gonna say without reading it. Moreover, if the thread mentions high velocities, ported stuff, patternmasters, shock effect, or 3.5" shells, you simply move along or plan to get dragged into a dead horse beating marathon.

CaptainWv wrote:The thing is you shoot what you shoot for reason, maybe your gny patterns better, maybe your more confident in whatever shot you shoot...

Yup, and discussing the matter here won't ever change my opinion on what works best for me. Same goes for pretty much everybody you're referencing. Point is, we're already locked in on that, and once there, life gets kinda boring. Calling internet buddies worthless sluts tends to liven things up a bit.

No.

Again, this is a forum, and forums are about personalities. Lopez, for instance, is a well-read, scientific type who lives in a world of finite rules and does not travel outside those boundaries. The rule, and never the exception, reigns supreme in his thought process. Ned, Frank's arch nemesis, is the resident curmudgeon who is thoroughly convinced that the sound barrier is no barrier at all. He's now looking into projectiles traveling at light speed. Lost is our local TSS guru, and he pimps that high dolla stuff like its a crack whores last 8-ball. Jehler is the class clown that probably knows more about reloading than most of us ever will. And Cannon's just a windbag that stirs the pot occasionally and flatly refuses to grow up and act like a man. If I were to continue down that whole list, we'd be here for a while.

There you have it . . . Questions answered.

That is just funny stuff. For the record I am a ford man! but I'm tight with the chevy dealer owner so I bought a chevy during truck month! I got a great deal. Brunettes always, Silver bullets over bud any day bud gives me a headache, well worse than coors anyway, lol! 2 years ago I went from heavy and slow to light and fast and end the end feel like light and fast is the way to go.though I'm still fairly new here. You guys are great.

Oh don't get me wrong I want to hear all sides so I can make a choice. But DHC seems to get pretty personal I haven't been here long enough to tell if its all in good fun not sure of really who is who. I just know from owning Porsche cars and being on Porsche and Ferrari forums. I thought they got at each other hard sometimes. Man they can't hold DHC a candle.
