Benelli IM for steel

Postby fadetoblack188 » Mon Feb 17, 2014 4:26 pm

I ordered my benelli crio plus improved modified choke from benelli for duck. I notice now when I get it , it says no steel on the choke . I thought you could shoot steel through IM choke

Get a Carlson, Briley or Trulock Extended Imp Mod choke and you will be able to shoot up too and including steel BB's and they will pattern very tight similiar to a Terror. Good luck. Ned S

all 3 of the mentioned brands is steel rated and at any speed with steel shot of any pellet size, the full by carlson is rated at 1550 fps and no bigger then bb size shot.

It tells you something about the materials used. Carlson even makes a short FLUSH steel rated choke.

If you don't like it Carlsons will exchange until you get a pattern you like. I have good luck with extended Carlsons. Ned S

yeah i am going to order an IM from carlsons and pattern it. even if i am not happy why not have a collection of chokes.. there good to have. Ya never know.

I believe only steel is allowed here in ny. So the IM from benelli does me no good.

So I will have no issue shooting steel through my carlsons IM choke.

I got it in the mail today. I don't under stand why Carlson makes a super steel choke to when there other chokes accept steel anyway

i shoot 5-b's shot up to 1800 fps and all speeds down too 1300 fps, have 1000's of shots through the improved mod choke. just for sound mind i check patterns every late summer to make sure everything up to snuff. the biggest shot that i shoot through mine(improved mod extended) is 11/8 and or 11/4 of bb's or bbb's going 1625 and 1475 fps. t's i shoot light mod or mod depending on hunting situation.

here is exact wording on there site and the link below so you can read there facts page about there chokes.

Do not use any Steel shot larger than BB, or any Steel shot faster than 1550 in any constriction tighter than IM. These chokes are great for target shooting or for use in the field.
The Long Range(full) is NOT to be used with any STEEL shot larger than BB, or with any STEEL shot faster than 1550 FPS. If you want to use any of these loads use try Mid Range choke tube.

http://www.choketube.com/customer-servi ... ormation-3

so constrictions tighter then improved mod there recomendation is to keep fps slower the 1550 fps and shot sizes bb and below.

hope this helps you out.
