Factory Jug Choke?

Postby John Singer » Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:12 am

The March 2014 American Rifleman magazine has a feature article about the Benelli Ethos shotgun. It is a 12 gauge gun and the bore design is described as follows:

The Ethos' cryogenically treated barrel measures a tight 0.719" for most of its length opening up to 0.738" just ahead of the choke tube.

Is that an unusual factory bore design?

WOW , I damn sure don't understand that design ! You are saying , it would have the opposite of a forcing cone taper
the full length of the barrel , to the choke ? Wouldn't the shell diameter be larger than the bore ?

Well , it a Benelli......go figure , their designs haven't been that great lately anyhow !

Marketing at it's best from Benelli I suppose ? By throwing those thin-walled barrels in some nitrogen and praying
they don't crack like a potatoe chip when , you go over pressure ?

With this being a 10 year-old process already , what will they think of next ?

at least they made it to were you can close the action by hand and it will still shoot, unlike the old design that you have to have the action slam shut which is not good thing when you want to be quite while turkey hunting ect.
