2 3/4" hevi shot recipe

Postby inthebox30lbs » Wed Feb 26, 2014 4:53 pm

I'm trying to find a 2 3/4" hevi shot reload in the 1 3/8 to 1 1/20z range shooting hevi 13 or regular hevi. It would need to be with alliant steel. Thanks if you can help out. Looking to use my 1100 and need a short load this turkey season. Just bored and looking to try out a recipe

Alliant has a couple listed on their website.

I have seen the alliant loads and was curious to see if anyone had any 1 1/2oz loads. Also forgot to mention I have hevi shot and hevi 13. I'm sure the recipes would be different. Thanks

Not sure how far you are forced to shoot where you hunt. But an ounce of hevi will stone birds as far out as I can shoot (which might say more about my ability that hevi's killing ability. :lol3: ).
All this for a bowl of borscht.

I've never seen any 1-1/2oz Hevi-Shot loads in 2-3/4" hulls. Buck's Run advises that you can substitute HW13 in Hevi-Shot (12g/cc) recipes. I usually put the extra spacer below the shot, as that increases the crush section and should in theory lower the pressure a tiny bit.

HW13 patterns extremely well, so I'd probably try a 1-3/8oz load of 6's and decrease the velocity to around 1200. Shot through a turkey choke, I expect the results will be really good.
