I was wondering if anyone using the SilverSteel in the field and what did you think of it. I was thinking of getting a box of 1s and 2s in 3 inch to see how they do. My primary target would be geese. Thanks.

I used them this past season for the first time for ducks....they did ok but I prefer the Winchester Supremes for about the same money.

Since you are in West Virginia, I assume you are hunting big Canada geese. Suggest 1s and BB.
Banded Birds - Mallard / Black Ducks, 3 Jack Miners and 25 AVISE. BW Teal - 2, Wood Ducks - 1, Morning Doves - 1, Snow/Ross - 2 (both reward bands), Canada Geese - 11 (2 neck collars)

Western Virginia. But not too far from West Virginia and yes, Canada geese would be the main target. A few mallards show up every now and then.

I shot 2 cases this year. 3" #1s. I liked em ok, but really didn't notice much of difference between that and the regular faststeel I normally shoot..

I think the silver steel are just suppose to be sealed to keep moisture out more effectively than fast steel, that's really the only difference.

plated shot and a "special blend of powder" for what that's worth to you. The Silversteel has limited offerings (BB, 1, 2) but I like their recipes. The 3.5 is 1.5oz. @ 1450. The 3.0 is 1.25oz. @ 1480. A little more performance than the Fast Steel but I can't say it's worth the extra coin.

I tried the 3 1/2 #BBs and just couldn't get a good pattern, but I did knock down a few honkers at 40+ yards.

Yeah, I was wondering if that little bit of extra speed made much of a difference. Doesn't sound like it's that big of a deal. Probably just stay with the FastSteel. Thank y'all for your comments.
