28 ga HW13 loads

Postby hamernhonkers » Sun Mar 09, 2014 1:14 pm

I thought I aught to share this in this forums as well as the thread I have going on the SA-08. Here are some patterns shot this morning from a Rem 870 with fixed mod 28 bore and a Weatherby SA-08 28 bore. I ended up shooting a 5 round group with the sa-08 and a factory mod tube and put 3 rounds on paper with the 870 at 40 yards and 2 rounds on paper at 50 yards. I am posting the two extreme pics from the SA-08 with highest pellet count and lowest pellet count.

Also for those who want to compare I will add some patterns from a 12 bore with factory steel loads and a 20 bore with factory steel loads

First the 28 patterns.

And from KPY

HW13 #6 shot, 355g load, pellet count 154, 1200 FPS gel penetration 1.5" at 1000' 32 degrees, 61.1 yards

Patterns look great for the Weatherby. I never have got that good of patterns out of my benelli with hw13 #6s. At around 90%, they would be a little tight for me for the 15-20 yard shots, but I'm not as good of shooter. Can't help but wonder what the IC would look like. Great post showing that a 28ga with high density tungsten can be as good or better than any steel 12ga load. I feel an all 28ga hunt coming on next January.

Get some TSS, you'll not be disappointed.

Defiantly gonna run a few through the IC to see how they look. With the wife shooting it I think a bit more open pattern would be a benefit for her.

Hells yes on the January hunt. Fat sprig feet down running into loads of HW13 from the 28, can't wait for it to get here man

Lost, what kind of accuracy are you getting with those?

I can hit a 45 gallon barrel fairly regularly at 100 yards, they're really not very accurate but they're a lot of fun.
