Well, after my miserable display of shooting last year I decided to re-look my setup (and myself  ) I've been out to the trap range and done a bit of sporting clays, so I'm a lot more confident than last year. I also decided that the factory stock on my 870 was much too long for me, so I replaced it with a youth model and I shoot much better! Anyway, short story long, I decided that the final piece of the puzzle might be a new choke. I used a cheap, Cabela Bargain Cave modified choke tube last year because I read tha extended chokes are better for steel shot. Obviously I was doing somthing wrong. I was curious as to what you all prefer to shoot? I might just go with the stock improved or modified choke this year and see how that goes. Otherwise I was considering buying a comp-n-choke because I read that the ported choke reduces recoil and improves shot load pattern...but they are pretty spendy! Any and all advice is appreciated. :salude:

Good luck this season, by the way!!!

I kill all my ducks over decoys with an improved cyl choke. Same with geese over decoys. If I am pass shooting or snow hunting over dekes then I throw in the mod. I never restict any more than mod (Beretta's full choke for the extrema will accept steel), cause steel patterns tight anyway.
