pintail urn

Postby woodduck31 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 6:29 am

I just finished up this pintail yesterday. It's hollow pine, detailed down to the float line, the ashes are secured below the float line. It is meant for hunting and this keeless design will self right.

Cool idea...
I've told this story before, but it's a good one...
I had an old timer in my neighborhood when I was a kid; his old buddy died and the Mrs..gave some ashes to the boys. He pressed each friend a box of shells with some ashes in each one to fire on opening day each year..
BOOM! There goes Teddy!

Very nice sprig. Im sure the owner will be proud to carry his pup hunting in that bird, or is it your own?

Woodduck,
you do beautiful work. I have a thirteen year old chocolate lab, I keep telling myself it's not going to be long trying to get ready so it wont hurt as much. I know it's not going to help.

As always, WOW ! Nice job.

What did you put in the tail for support, I assume it must be more than just Apoxie Sculpt ?

the tail is flexible plastic. Knowing it was going to be hunted a time or two each year would require something that wouldn't break. This thread is from 2013, I'm doing another one that is just a shelf sitter right now in the same pose.

the plastic was from a black funnel, it was thick enough that I could shape it and feather it, better than just a plastic planter.
