Tom Matus decoy value?

Postby Frylock » Sun Oct 27, 2013 7:34 pm

I've got a couple of Tom Matus decoys but no clue what they might be worth and thought one of you guys could steer me to someone who might be able to help. I've got a cork hen Goldeneye and a hollow body drake Bufflehead. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pics would really help, condition? Buffy hollow wood or cork? You could always ask him. He's over on decoycarvingforum a lot.

Here are a few picture. The Bufflehead is hollow wood, the goldeneye is cork.

To a collector I would value the Bufflehead at 500.00 to 800.00 looks like a early decoy in Toms carving career.
The goldeneye 400.00 to 500.00 would be my ballpark value for a early Matus cork decoy . I dont think he arved alot of cork decoys so it may carry a premium if its early enough.
Tie your own flies
Carve your own decoys
