Anyone converted hotbuys into waterkeels?

Postby 98ramtough » Wed Jan 19, 2005 3:58 pm

Has anyone converted GHG Hotbuy decoys into waterkeels? I have been thinking about taking the cap off the back and maybe drilling out some of the front for the water to flow trough. I hike to a lot of my spots and the lost weight would be great.

You would loose alot of weight, I think it would work if you open the front and the back.

My only concern is that the cord is tied on in the front and there is not much room to drill to the front. Maybe on the bottom towards the front or something? I guess the hole doesn't have to be very big, I will try it out on a few and post some pics.

You could put them in the side because all you need is 2 holes in for water to go into and on for the water to go out of.

We tore the end cap off with pliers and drilled 2 holes in the front and 2 holes in the side and shook all the sand out. Makes them a ton lighter. We also walk in a ways and I can definately tell the weight difference.
