Hey guys. I just picked up some old foam broadbill decoys. These decoys have a metal keel molded into the bottoms of them. Some of the decoys keels are falling out and are rusted beyond saving. Do I try to carve out the old keels and make new ones out of wood or composite? Or is there something else I can do? I'm open to any and all options. Thanks for your time.
Simple, just don't. turn them into weazle bull motion decoys, cut a hole in the top, put the weazle ball inside and then cap it with the piece you cut off
Herters have the same issue. I've taken 500 or liquid nails and smeared it on the keel with a rubber glove. It will seal it all up and dry really solid. Works great and way easier than digging them out and replacing.
