overcoat on new decoys

i just bought a doz. GHG mallards and was wondering if spreaying a few coats of somw type of overcoating works. does this help cut down on the paint loss? and which one should i use?

One thing is for sure , it can't hurt them any to do that, I have done that on some of my repaints and they seem to be holding up good after 3 years of being out all season.. Try Krylon 1311 it is a matte clear coat and works pretty good just put it on in two or three thin coats and try to do it on a day where the humidity is low, or they may haze up on you. Some guys use a hair dryer to make them dry fast and keep them from hazing up, I have never had a problem with them doing that .

about how many decoys can you do with one can of that stuff?

I am going to order a can, but I dont know how much.

You might do as many as 1 dozen with one can of it just depends on how heavy you put it on. You can buy it at wally world, no need to order it, they keep it in stock,

I just did it to 2 doz flambeaus. they dont look any different as far as a shiny coat. Before I was able to scratch the paint off with my fingernail. now it takes a whole lot more. I used Krylon 1311.
