Discuss Alabama duck hunting and more.
Anyone on here ever tried to hunt Lake Martin? Have any luck? Just curious. I am thinking of going to check it out a few times this year.

I have hunted it before. Really don't have much luck until late in the season when we get some bufflehead down. Until then you might get the usual wood duck or two. There are a ton of geese there though.

I grew up on Lake Martin and duck hunting can be good at times. Early in the year find a creek feeding the main lake and you can have some luck. Around Christmas blue bills, and buffleheads will show up on the big water. For the divers have a lot of decoys and a boat blind. Tons of local geese if you can pattern them you can kill them. A lot of people feed the ducks and geese in their yard so it's hard to compete with that! The best advice I can give you is to scout and find out where the ducks are using (usually creeks and coves with shallow water) for you to have success.
