opener

I ended up with one gad, one shoveler. My brother got one shoveler. We also did the world a favor and shot five coots as we picked up the decoys. Over all it was a fun hunt, but didnt meet my expectations for opening day.

Yeah, the Delta was a big let down. I had seen 100's of birds before opener, but most seemed to be gone for the opener. We only had 5 birds come in range the whole morning. One before legal and the other 4 we dropped but one was a teal cripple that swam into the reeds before we could reach it so we ended up with the 3. Oh well, here to hoping we get a few cold fronts push the birds down before February.

I was pretty close to your friends. The water dropped out so fast, I wouldn't be surprised if some people didn't end up spending more time there than they wanted to. Looks like this weekend is going to be bad as far as tides are concerned also, especially if we get a front come through with a good north wind.

I hunted in the Flint River near Huntsville Friday and Saturday. Friday me and one of my buddies saw alot of ducks, but we couldn't get 'em down out of the sky. Saturday the sun had just come up and we just put out a few decoys....and 4 woodies came zoomin right into the spread and got a hen outta that bunch, that's all we killed all openin weekend.
