Anchorage Sportsman's Show

Postby akbrett » Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:41 pm

LA, you might be interested in hitting this. The Sportsmans Show is going to be April 6-9 at the Sully. I can't remember how much it is to get in, but it is worth going. I'm sure the ADN will have a list of the events and seminars that will be held as we get closer to that date, but you might want to keep that weekend open.

This is a lot more than a gun show. I'll keep my eyes out, but it seems like I hear about a gun show happening about once every couple months either in town or in the valley. I let you know if I see anything.

There are a lot of good deals on gear at the show, some of the vendors use it as a means to get rid of last years stock while showing off this years models. My old man picked up a safe a couple years ago for almost 1/2 of what it was going for the week before. They fill up both the Sully and the Boeke rinks.

Maybe the boy and I will see you there.

Yea well have to set up a time to meet, thats exactly what i need, is a safe. I had a wood case/safe thing just to hold my guns in GA but I lived of base and the movers broke it on the way over here and now I live on base there are different rules. I need to find a cheap and light one.

cheapest safes

Postby AK Ray » Tue Mar 14, 2006 7:15 pm

The cheapest safes I have seen are at Lowes Home Improvement. Don't know about light weight though. And they are not very large. So if you have an arsenal you will need several or a big one.

Boondocks has a huge wall of guns at the show and usually teams with Wild West Guns on a bulk order of Cannon Safes. They then have a sale during the show. Just what you need for that new $1,500 Wild West Guns Co-Pilot briefcase bear gun they figure. I picked up a 21 gun safe from WWG after the show at the show price of less than $900 in 1998. It was not light since it is UL fire rated.

LOWES hummm never though to look there, might have to go and look at there prices to compare. I'm not looking for one real fancy right now with being in the military are traveling so much, the give us a set weight and if we go over then we have to pay and the amount they set is crap, with all my hunting stuff and tools and fourwheeler i went waaaaay over so i have to watch what i buy or ill have to have a hugh yard sale.

Possibly a drake Pintail as well?
Just once I would like to see the spread that gets put on in Anchorage.
