Jesse's Fuel Tank

Postby otterbfishin » Mon May 01, 2006 11:03 pm

Stouff,
I tried to put the drawings of the tank I need here, but they would not load up, so I sent them to you by e-mail. I used to be a metal fabricator and am not too bad with a mig. If I had access to one I'de weld it up myself. If you can do it for me at your shop I will do the layout, cut the plate and bring you the parts to weld. Let me know.

Hey, can I get a piece of 1/4" Al plate from you? It will be small but have funny dimensions.

I have been trying to find a piece at the AK Steel scrap yard, but they just don't seem to be messing up too many orders or making enough scrap

If I can get a piece, I'll figure out the height and width one night this week.

aluminum plate

Postby otterbfishin » Tue May 02, 2006 7:32 pm

Ray,
I'll be using 1/8" plate for the tank. The project will take exactly 63" X 48" and I hope to be able to buy just enough to do the job. How big a piece of 1/4" do you need? I have a few small scraps around from dogsled brake projects.
Stouff,
Should have the e-mail . It sent ok from my end to the e-mail address you have on the Forum. Check again. If not there I'll re-send it. Give me your address.
Shannon,
Look forward to seeing you guys up here. I'll keep a keen eye on the river ice etc. I’d really like to get in on the camo thing you and Rex are going to do. As you mentioned we could do both boats at the same time. Let me know when to show up with the paint, and what preps I should do to my aluminum hull to be ready.

Postby otterbfishin » Wed May 03, 2006 9:12 am

UPDATE:
Hey Stouff,
A very fine neighbor up here just offered me the use of her mig machine. Very Cool! I'll be able to weld it up myself. Thanks for your offer of help in this project though!

Sorry, been working.

I would need a piece of 1/4" that is about 14" wide by 12" tall. I was thinking of using just a couple of narrow pieces for backing plates, but think that a full sheet over the area would work better.
