This link will provide some info for Kenai gold panning. There is public site at Crow Creek Mine in Gridwood that could be fun for the kids.

The guys at Alaska Mining and Diving on Commercial Drive near the Post Road gate will have more info on placer spots.

I've done it a few times. It can be fun for a while but I'd much rather be fishing.

When Laurie goes with me to the creeks I fish, she pans. Rarely gets any color but it's fun for her. Like Brett, I'd rather be fishing too. Now if she came up with a nugget of two, I'd put down the flyrod and pick up a pan!
