public land near anchroage

Postby opdog » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:59 pm

just wondering if there was in public land near anchroage that I could duck hunt on in october . Or do I need to get hooked up with a guide to have a decent hunt and if so does any one have suggestions on a good guide that can put me on some ducks. What kind of weather can I expect. Thanks for the help
hhh
This is in Anchorage. You need to apply for an on-line permit and have a hunter education card from any state program on your person while hunting. Access is limited to a couple of spots. Compitition for huntable locations can be high.

This is 30 minutes north of Anchorage. There is lots of info about this refuge posted on The Refuge and some on here. nearly all access is by boat of some sort down a glacial river or a tidal slough.

Early October can have pretty poor hunting if we have had a freeze up by then. Cordova typically has better hunting at this time of year.
