Hey guys I am looking at planning a trip to Alaska for hunting,am looking at hunting public, are there any guidelines being out of state anything, rules any help would be appreciated thanks
Look at the hunting regulations on the Fish and Game website. It's pretty involved, so take the time to read it through. Waterfowl hunting regs aren't much different, especially for access.
where are you planning on going? one thing about Alaska, if you hunt the coast you're going to have to deal with tides. Hunting in Juneau the slough we hunt would go from 3-4 inches deep to well over 6 feet deep in a few hours. you can find yourself in a dangerous situation.
Fullcurl71, both of these guys are right. I've been hunting here in Juneau for 4 years now and even still the tides trick me occasionally. Here in Juneau you are looking at a 10-25 foot tide change every 6 hours. So you really need to know your stuff. As far as regs it is pretty open. If you are going for waterfowl only you only need your small game license, your state and federal duck stamp. Beyond that you will need to look into where you are hunting. I know here in the Juneau Area there aren't very many waterfowl guides, but there are guides for other services. Definitely read the regulations though to double check everything.
