Desert Zone

Postby DPduckhunter13 » Fri Dec 04, 2009 1:11 pm

Went out yesterday morning. bird numbers seem to be rising pretty good. saw about 100 birds most of them wigeon, 15 mallards and a couple teal. also saw a small flock of geese. we managed to bag 3 wigeon, and my budy got his 1st duck which was a very good lookin drake. we passed on a few shots that were over the salt cedars and the 3 were the only ones that wanted to work real well. hope everyone else is doin good as well. should be hot next week.

It started pretty slow and still is I guess. I have shot only gadwall so far. There are more gadwall this season than I have ever seen. Last season it was widgeon, but I have seen very few of them this season.

most of what weve been seeing is wigeon and mallards. i havent seen near the amount of gwt this year as i did last year. yesterday we saw 4 flocks of probably 40-75 birds coming in from up north but unfortunately we couldnt see where they landed. we did manage a good mallard drake and a wigeon drake.

DP if you could take that winchester sx3 and hit something besides air you'd put more breasts in the freezer. Whats that saying couldn't hit water if you fell out of a boat, bout sums it up.

Eh i dont put breasts in the freezer, i put em on the grill! my internets been down for a while. last week was real good. picked up a buncha greenheads and the gwt are down in force. also been seein a few high flying geese. took some newbies out and they got a few as well. last tuesday i got a little bonus...a nice bobcat. went to jump a pond on my way home and he run out into the bushes. he also made the mistake of hangin out long enough to get the gun out of the case, load some shells and when he was makin one last look he took some Federal Premium to the chest. were goin out again tomorrow morning so ill report back. have fun, be safe.

Went out friday morning and had a pretty good day, didnt shoot alota ducks, we got 4 mallards and a gwt. but we did score on 4 ross geese and a snow. the new guys got 3 of those so theyre basically addicted. :lol3: took a 15 year old kid out yesterday and he got a wigeon drake, mallard hen, and a gwt drake. saw a ton of migrators (mallards, wigeon, teal , pintail and canadas) in the evening movin in from up north. this week should be insane if they dont leave before the cold really hits. good shooting and Merry Christmas
