sounds like you'll be going when the hunting is good. i saw a flock of mallards on tuesday on the gila. i got one drake. saw a gadwall too. if you have time try and find where they are feeding and set up there. good luck.
We find more birds on the salt than the gila, but then again I hear alot of people raving about the hunting over on the gila. I have scouted it before in the gila bend area and did not find too many ducks. That was in Oct. before the storms brought down the migrant ducks. I've been busy killing birds in other parts of the state but often wonder how the hunting would be in Jan. on the gila. Let us know how you do!!!
