Yuma - Duck hunting the Colorado

Postby AZ Buck » Fri Jan 25, 2008 8:27 pm

I'm new to this forum, but not new to duck hunting in Arizona. I was wondering if anyone out there could share some information about hunting the Colorado river in Yuma. Unfortunately, I was not able to do any scouting in the area, but I would like to try something different for the end of season. Any information would be helpful, just a point in the right direction would be great.

Thank you

I wish I could help you. I have friends that hunt Yuma but they haven't given me much knowledge. I'll post a little later of my general knowledge. I believe the game and fish site I put as a sticky on the top of the forum will give you some places to start. Its just like the rest of the state. Scout Scout Scout and Scout some more.

Oh and :welcome:
Have you ever woke up one day and said. Damn when does the season start.

I too am new to hunting the Yuma area and am looking for any info on areas to hunt. I have done some scouting on along the Colorado and found a few good looking spots but if there is a lot of pressure the birds will be pushed else where.

Any information would be helpful!

Are you seeing many ducks? Not much to report around here. I am headed up north this weekend to see if we can find some.
When we get a few ducks up here you need to find some time to come up.

I Normally hunt the colorado river by bullhead city and we will normally get quite a few birds that come down. We just throw out a couple dekes and work the magic with the calls always end up with some birds. Great for jumping late in the day to.
I'll call you my hunting partner when you jump into freezing water to get my ducks
