Taxidermist

Postby Infamous20 » Fri Oct 17, 2008 5:13 pm

Has anyone used a taxidermist here in az that you would recommend for waterfowl? I have looked around and there are a few but I have yet to get any feedback from anyone that would make me want to use there shop im not worried about the price if the work is good also dont care on how long it takes as long as it gets done I have heard stories of hunters dropping there prize animals off and never getting them back for all kinds of reasons. Any help would be great thanks. Also if you have pics of work done by the taxidermist would be awesome.

Thanks again
Mike

I've used desert wings taxidermy out of yuma. as have a lot of people I know. His divers are his best mounts in my opinion. but he did a great job on my teal and I have 3 birds with him now.
Have you ever woke up one day and said. Damn when does the season start.

I agree desert wing does a great job and is reasonably priced! he has done 6 of mine ,I had a guy in phoenix do a wood duck of mine and he was twice the price as desert wing and didnt do half the job! I dont think hes advertising anymore but i have his number if you need it!!

Mike
Tim does some real good custom mounts for the birds. He did one last year for his buffleheads that even made his taxidermist say "wow". BTW he is using R&R taxidermist in Mesa. The work is good but I am sure there are better out there. I have had him do a couple of mounts for me and they are fine but with minor defects that I am probably the only one who notices.

desertducks has spoke highly of his Yuma guy and I am sure he also does very good work. Would be great to get down there again this year with enough time to stop in and check out his work.

I would rather go to Yuma than Tucson. Desertducks is a great member on the board and can hook you up with desert wings taxidermist.

If you can make it up north this weekend we might be able to pick up some specimens up there.
