im thinking of getting a new shotgun before next season because i want one that is going to be able to stand up against saltwater a little better. i was thinking of going with the Benelli Nova, but a friend of mine suggested that i look at the Charles Daly 12ga. auto. ive seen this gun at Walmart and was wondering if it woud be a good gun for this kind of use.
i have the nova and i absolutly love it... the whole thing with the shaky pump isnt a big deal... they all do it and after a few days you dont even notice it... i know next to nothing about the charles daly though
The Charles Daly isn't a bad gun for the money. I am an outfitter on the coast of Maine and use one daily. Just remember semi's can be finiky, extreme cold, have to be kept clean, and not so perfect brass on shells can be a problem. Also consider this the pump is the waterfowlers work horse. But again the daly isn't a bad gun for the price.
A buddy of mine had a Daily fall apart on him on his 2nd season hunting. I didn't get all the details, but it didn't sound good. I think he eventually went w/ a Winchester Super X 2.
They're very nice waterfowl guns.
My Nova works great and has been very dependable. Don't shoot salt water much but when I do, I tear my gun apart and keep it clean and oiled. Seems to be working great.
Benelli's, Remingtons, brownings, winchesters, berettas -all good guns. Some nicer than others, but should all get the job done. DO NOT go with a cheap new name gun for waterfowl hunting. You'd be better off w/ an H&R single barrel.
I have a winchesster super X 2 that i bought and love and i just recently was givin a beretta xtrema 2 which i olove also if i had to pick between the 2 thoguht it would be the xtrema
just bought the baokail mp153 semi 3 1/2 inch mag and for the price i think its the best gun out there shoot nice and smooth and ive heard lots of greeat reviews on the gun
:withstupid:
....yea gooseboys right..........
no but really every gun sucks if it aint a 870 or a spartan
no seriously the charles daly is a good gun and very good for the price
id take over spartan
the novas a good choice 2
try them both see wich one u like better
I have only heard of 1 satisfied customer the rest say the gun sucks.
Have you ever owned or shot a Charles Daly? I hae dropped mine in the water, mud, and not babied it and it works fine. Plus they have a lifetime warranty.
I've had a nova for a couple of years now and absolutely love it!!!! I also have a Winchester 1300 that I used for years and never had any problems with either, but my vote still goes to the Nova for sure.
The Benelli Nova is a tank. I used one for three seasons and was shocked at the misery that gun survived. I fell into a clay lined ditch trying to retrieve a goose a friend's dog refused to get (long story) and landed on my right hand and pressed the Nova into the muddy bank. It was caked to say the least. I just flushed muddy pond water through it until the barrel was clear and bolt would move and got back at it. It was fine in terms of appearance after a proper cleaning.
While I switched to a gas auto when money made this possible I still have fond feelings about the Nova. Its easy to switch to goose loads quickly too.

Beretta Extrema is the only way to go! It has a patented Aqua Seal for saltwater.
LOVE THE GUN!
Have charles daly too and the only problem I have is it doesn't want to cycle remington loads.
