Saw a flock today launching the boats. Not a lot but at least they're starting to push through.

We gave it a shot Sat am and saw only one flock a mile high heading south. Typically it's Christmas week before they get in here good but this year the weather has been much different than last years early ice up. Heading out tomorrow afternoon to try a pm hunt.

I went out with 3 other guys this past weekend and we limited out both days on CANS!!!! The second day we could not keep them out of our DEEKS...check out the Washington State post for pics.

Shoot, my buddy took cell phone pics of CANS landing ans swimming in the spread....we had a blast...i smoked a big CAN that will be mounted one day.

I hope you all get some soon, they are awesome..

We smacked at 4 man limit here in MD during our second split.

We normally kill a few every year, but this was the first time I've ever seen a large flock of them.

Two of them have already headed to the taxidermist

Excellent! Nice work on the limit. If they're in MD they will be here any minute. We didn't see a one yesterday but the Ruddy's are here in droves and the Buffies are starting to show in numbers.

Left the river at noon and went to our puddle duck hunting spot and stayed till dark. I'm pretty sure Mallards and Black ducks are extinct now. Didn't see, hear, or smell a duck! I think next week it will be game on.

Cans seem to be out in California. We have a ton of me around us at our club the past 5 years or so but this year weve seen the most by far. Blind partner and I both had our can limit right after shoot time last wed and then just had to observe as flocks buzzed around us the rest of the morning.

Folks,
i need some help locating a spot to hunt cans. i live in Richmond VA and will drive to whereever the ducks are. my dog turns eleven this year and it is more and more evident each day that he may not have many hunting seasons left. he has retrived many specise of ducks but we have never taken any cans. can anyone recomend a good spot or guide where hea and i can fulfill our dream of taking a can?
i appreciate any info.

Jeez, what is the limit on cans in your area? Out here in CA we can only shoot 1. Hunted yesterday, got one early, and had to become a Can observer the rest of the day. Had to pass on at least 7 easy shots and 2 landed in the dekes. Brutal! Never wanted to see a spoony so bad!

4 guys back to back days. Had cans swimming in our decoys. Could have shot 30.

Last Wednesday we shot two Bluebills (only flock that gave us a look) but did see some high flying Cans passing through. Saturday we didn't see any Cans or Bluebills. The few around must have fed all night on the full moon and slept all day. Fished yesterday off VAB for Bluefin Tuna and probably saw less than 50 Scoters all day. Pretty dismal.
